I often get asked if the plants in our house are real... and yes, 90% of them are! It's taken me some time to learn how to care for them, but the learning curve is worth it for the life they bring to our home. Not only do they provide a "pop of color" in a home, but they are also good for your health! Plants help purify the air in your home... which is crucial for us in the Midwest; since we have long Winters and we don't get a lot of "lets open the windows" weather.
Nowadays, especially in today's world, it's not so easy to just go out and buy a new plant... luckily, there are so many online plant businesses! Yup - online plant shopping... it's a thing and I've listed all my favorite shops below to help you get started! I've also linked a few of my favorite plants - or ones we have in our home (that are easy to care for).
Home Depot: Did you know that Home Depot will deliver plants to your home? Yes, they do! All their plants come with a great warranty too - in case you end up killing it (been there...)
Ansel & Ivy: My Rubber Tree Plant is from this company & it has grown so much since I received it. Plus, when I received it, the packaging was amazing - so well packed! All of the plants they offer already come in a planter and you can choose which color you like best! Having a plant already delivered in its pot is so nice, because then you don't have to worry about re-potting it right away.
Bloomscape: This company also sells their plants already potted in planters; they offer 5 different color options of their terracotta planters that you can choose from! They also offer "plant collections" and their Trailing Collection is my favorite! *swoon* They have an entire section on plant care as well, if you need any tips!
Pigment: I just discovered this company and fell in love. They were one of the only companies I found (online) that sells plants in their grow pots (meaning you don't have to buy the planters with it). This makes the prices much cheaper and they offer a wide variety of plants! Pssttt... they also sell home decor here too! It's like a one stop shop!
The Sill: This plant company offers live plants, faux plants and accessories! They also have a "Brands We Love" Page where they sell a lot of wellness products and propagation products.
TIP:
Start with one or two plants and once you feel like you have a handle on those two, then you can maybe add another! I always suggest a Pothos Plant to beginners or people who say they can't keep plants alive. My mom gifted me a pothos plant when I moved out for college, and I swear that plant has more lives than a cat. Seriously. I have nearly killed it 15 times & it just keeps coming back! They are very forgiving and bounce back from under (or over) watering quickly!
Okay... so now you have all the plants that your heart desires and they start growing! ....and growing and growing... you'll eventually need to move that plant to a bigger pot! So, when that time comes, here are some great planter and pots to accent your home with!
Remember, don't over think plants! It can seem like a daunting task, keep one alive, but once you get the hang of it, it's super rewarding! And if you're rolling your eyes while reading this, knowing there is no way you can ever keep a plant alive... don't worry! I recently wrote a post all about faux plants and where to find the best (looking) ones!
Check out that post here!
Talk soon friends,
Kayleigh
